Gulf Coast Mission

horizontal rule

The Gulf Coast Mission Team has been formed to respond to the devastation of life and community wrought by Hurricane Katrina. Nine members of Valley of Peace congregation have volunteered to be this team. They will be working through the agency of Lutheran Disaster Response (LDR) and Lutheran Social Services.

The volunteers for this TEAM are giving one week of time and skill plus a share of their expected $650 of costs. Members of the congregation have offered multiple gifts to support this mission effort.

People offer a variety of reasons for volunteering to do such a project. “The cross is not only a symbol of what we believe and teach as a Christian community but is also a metaphor for what we are called to do with our lives. By our example, it is our intention to bring a message of hope to those whose lives are borderline desperate,” said Tim Hepner, the Team organizer.

The Gulf Coast Team consists of Ken Graves, John Hallin (our pastor), Tim Hepner, Dick Hilden, John Hinderlie, Iris Johnson, Debbie Seemann, David Seemann, and Joan Summerside.
